Applications being accepted for the Israel travel scholarship
Shalom Orlando has begun accepting applications for the 2023 Ronald Colman Israel Travel Scholarships.
The Ronald Colman Israel Scholarship Fund was made possible by a generous endowment established by the Colman family to encourage Jewish teens in the Greater Orlando area to participate in educational experiences in Israel. The program is open to all Jewish teens in 9th-12th grades who are permanent residents of Central Florida. Gap-year programs are not eligible. The scholarships are administered through the Federation’s Jewish Teen Education Network (JTEN).
Teens who apply must be traveling on an organized educational youth/peer Israel program, including adventure travel, community service, volunteer work, or academic programming. Family trips are not eligible. Scholarship funds are for programs in the summer of 2023 and programs during the 2023-24 school year. Funds will be distributed directly to the sponsoring organization of the selected trip.
Your applications will require a letter of recommendation and an essay that answers the following questions:
- Why are you going to Israel?
- Why did you choose the program to which you applied?
- How will you integrate your Israel experience into your life and community once you return from Israel?
The deadline has been extended till April 30th. A review committee will select the scholarship recipients, who will be notified no later than the end of May.
