In observance of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, join us on January 27 to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Presented in partnership with The National WWII Museum, this program explores what Allied liberators encountered when they entered Nazi concentration camps at the end of World War II. The program is led by Michael S. Bell, PhD, Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of War and Democracy at the National WWII Museum. A combat veteran, historian, and former senior national security official, Dr. Bell examines how soldiers first confronted the reality of the camps, how they tried to make sense of what they saw, and how those moments shaped global understanding of the Holocaust. By focusing on the perspective of the liberators, this program honors the victims, recognizes those who bore witness, and challenges us to consider the moral responsibility that comes with seeing injustice and choosing how to respond.
